Is there a way to enable bitsetting on single layer DVD+R media on Pioneer DVR-108?

Bitsetting is not available with the Pioneer 108 firmware but if you are desparate you can flash with the PIODATA 108 firmware which does support bitsetting details of which are posted elsewhare in the forum

Is it safe to flash to the PIODATA 108 firmware? Are the PIODATA and Pioneer drives identical? If they are, why the official pioneer firmware does not support bitsetting?

Yes PioData and Pioneer drives are the same (PioData is DVR-108 OEM) so...but you have to use DVRFlash for flashing

Has anyone tried and can confirm that this was succesful?

I can confirm that flashing the PIODATA firmware onto a Pioneer DVR-108 is succesful and bitsetting to DVD+R media is succesful it is also reversable I have done it!
You need the Piodata Kernel & Normal firmware files and DVRFlash 2.0 you need to flash both the files to successfully flash the firmware and if you decide to revert back you will also need to flash the Pioneer Kernel file.

You will need some basic knowledge of the windows command line before attempting to flash your drive
All the files required can be found on my site

Where can I download from the (original) pioneer kernel file if I need to go back?
