baj -> Pioneer 108 Jitter/PI/PIF Help Please (12/7/2004 9:16:48 AM)

Hi

I'm new to all this and would greatly appreciate some help and answers.

Using DVDinfoPro (version 3.48) to check the quality of dvd-r discs that I have dubbed using a Panasonic DMR-E85 HDD-DVR, produces messages that my existing Plextor DVD-rom is not suitable for Jitter, PI/PIF tests and is unable to read MID codes.

I wish to buy a DVD burner (internal, ATAPI interface) and the Poineer DVR 108 appears to be a good buy.

Questions:
1. Will the DVR 108 read MID codes?
2. Will it also allow me to perform jitter and PI/PIF tests?
3. What is the difference between PIF and PO?

Many thanks in anticipation of answers and help.

Baj

Answers:
1. Yes all PC DVD drives can read MID codes
2. As far i remember, DVR-108 supports only PI/PIF scans, not Jitter
3. Check the writing quality of this forum POF are un-correctable errors

emperor, Many thanks for your reply.

One last (hopefully) question:

Would you agree that jitter measurements are not much use?

TIA

Jitter measurements are useful, Pio 108 cannot report such values
