Im having problems with the latest firmware for my samsung sh-w08A drive. after updating it using the tools on the samsung site I have been left with a dvd burner that can no longer seem to burn dvds. cds for some reason will burn properly.

Any dvd I try to burn either fails when using k3b or is unformatted / unfinalized with nero(no multisession is ticked ). I was wondering if anyone still has a copy of the original firmware for this drive. Samsung have not replied to my emails about this matter and its not available from there site.

Which firmware did you installed, 1S31?

Try to do it again, fint the firmware here.

thanks for the welcome. [:)]

that is the firmware and tool i used to update. I emailed samsung and they sent me the original firmware. i put the old firmware back but im still having the same problems.

I can for some reason burn to dvd +rw and cds but when i try to burn to dvd -r discs they completly fail. would this be a firmware problem ? (i have burned to dvd -r before i played around with the firmware so it is supported).

any other suggestions on what to do next would be appreciated.
