As promised, here are the .bin firmware of both the CD-W548E, CD-W552E. Both drives have the same firmware revision (V1.05) but not the exact same board design, so we don't know if OC is possible (Nero reports BURN-proof for the CD-W552E, which seems wrong).

Both firmware was ripped with MTKFlash v1.55 either with the /M (merge in one file) setting, or also ripping each bank seperatly. We don't know if those rips are correct since MTKFlash v1.55 cannot recognize the board type of both TEAC drives. Use it YOUR OWN RISK! You would need WinRAR v3.xx series to un-rar them!!! [:D]

Dear John please help me. I have TEAC CD-W548E, and of cource i have problem with him. He can read but he can't write. I thik that software in him was broken. You gave firmware for this CD but i do not see program for putting this firmware in CD. My mail is milten@ptt.yu

Hi,I have a problem with TEAC CD-W548E.But I can't find a flasher,which know Flash FirmWare to this drive.I test MtkFlash,MtkWinFlash and ltnflash.Does anybody help me?

I use a 552e right now, and the latest firmware is 1.09. Its a whole lot better than 1.05, so if you want to mess around with that idea on a w548... just something more to break... erm, i mean mess around with.

I doubt very much that a W548E will flash up

The review shows the chipset as being MT1508E+MT1516E - and nobody has ever got more than 48x16 out of what tallies with a Liteon "5" chipset - which Liteon only ever took to 48x12 - if it's capable of HS-RW at 16x, then I suppose the only reason they never took it that far, is a lack of suitable media.

It may even hurt opinion, to claim 16x but really never be able to deliver it!
