Sorry John I guess my proxy cache brought me old information.
This update improves CDR identifying. One 24x labeled CDR700MB can now burned with 20x.

Works well. Write quality is much better!!
BTW there is a new drive on the block, the Artec 20x. Word is that the 24x is the same drive again with an uncrippled firmware, the drive is another Ricoh/Aopen clone, and it's **EXTREMELY** cheap!!!! ;)
Which leads to me a question : How do you grab a copy on file of a Ricoh firmware if you don't have an updated one to replace it with?

Strange, with me using this firmware, the drive identifies as 20x10x40, without telling me that it is and aopen model. However version is 1.22 under properties. Also the update file was called 20x_r121 rather than revision 122 as one would expect.
Iwonder whether this causes trouble when I try reinstalling NERO at some stage.

Download it again. AOPEN switched the files, as I described.
