OC-Freak -> My first try to OC failed, result is dead drive. (10/10/2001 1:34:30 AM)

Tried to OC an LG CED-8083B 4/4/32X to an CED-8080B 8/4/32X.

The firmware was transferred to the drive but the verification failed and then the drive was dead.

Not detected by the bios, the tray doesn't open......completely dead.

The drive came shipped with a HP pavilion 8670 computer.

THIS DRIVE IS NOT OC ABLE!!!!! DO NOT TRY TO OC IT!!!!!!

Yeah, it was just an old 4X drive anyway......but still a bit disappointing that it's now completely dead.

maybe you can reflash it to live with WVI's jumper trick hehehe.... as this was the caze with liteon... i do not know if it also works with LG but you can atleast try...
are there strange jumpers pins on the back on the drive ?

What is this 'jumper trick' you are refering to, wvi?
Gotta link to an article?
