How were your results @16x? I still don't see any available 16x media almost 2 months after you got these. How does the dye looked compared to a 4x or 8x burn? And I thought 8x was amazing. [8D]

Iggy -> RE: Verbatim 16X DVD+R media arrived (10/27/2004 5:08:50 PM)

The same.

There is a topic in this forum for those media burned with several dvd burners.

thx Iggy, i'll find that topic and read it. I hope 16x media becomes widely available by X-Mas.

I have tested

DVD+R 16x from Philips(Philips C016) some weeks ago and the compatibility was very poor.

8x possible on the Pioneer DVD-R 108
4x possible on te NEC 3500

No other drives available or installed on that moment internally.
I have to test this on the plextor 716/Liteon 1633S still. But I have there compatibility list and on this moment mostly only the BENQ/philips drives burn them on 16 ( also maybe the latest AOPEN drive but I am not sure of that)

So on high speed dvd recording => firmware well stay very crucial.

So besides the big brands ( Verbatim / Ricoh ) I dont expect a high compatibilty with other media soon.

I think good compatibility can be reached @ the end of Q1 next year.

I have received my Pioneer multi format DVR-S806 16 X DVD, 4 X DL etc with firewire or USB 2.0 connects, I bought a ADS 'Pyro' A/V Linkfor my video capture both the Pioneer and the ADS both connect to each other and my laptop via firewire. I was surprised to see component inputs that could be reversed for output on the ADS Pyro.

BTW Ulead Video 8 & Ulead Photo Explorer 8.0 -"The Tool to Manage your Digital Media Files" software came with the Pioneer. The Pyro software disc contains the Pyro Version 1.5, Main Bundle: Video Studio 7 SE DVD [PC] with boonus PhotoShow Trial. The websie on the Pyro disc is www.adstech.com

Both of the devices came with good sized manuals, I think I am going to need this for all this stuff to be understood for DVD, not DVD coasters. :)

Edit: I went to the site and here it word for word a cut, copy, and paste:

    kubus -> RE: Verbatim 16X DVD+R media (6/5/2006 1:08:22 PM)

    Hi! Still anybody here?

    I just found out that the 16x DVD+R from Intenso have mediacode MCC 004 too. They are 14% cheaper than the ones from Verbatim.[:-]

    Do you think, they are exactly the same quality if the mediacode is the same or could there be differences though?[8|]

    emperor -> RE: Verbatim 16X DVD+R media (6/9/2006 3:34:35 AM)

    Interesting information, but i don't think that Verbatim gives away their media ID codes or do OEM business, not 100% sure again

    wilma -> RE: Verbatim 16X DVD+R media arrived (7/10/2006 4:43:07 AM)

    Hi ,
    is there anyone how has the full compatibility list of the 16x Verbatim with MCC 004 code ?
    Or is there anyone who can tell me where  I can fiind it ?ù
    Also  i would lke to know do you think that the compatibilty with these code can change by using different dye . This code was made for MCC dye , what will happen if manufactureres use for example ciba dye ?
    please advise
