Hey everyone, I'm new here but I've been reading these posts for a few days now. I am going to purchase either the LiteOn SOHW1213s or the SOHW812s. Besides the speed, are there any advantages to either that I should know about? I also heard that the 812s can be flashed to be compatable with dual layer discs. Is the same true for the 1213? Is it difficult to do and is it even worth doing? I have been checking out the links for the firmware updates through this thread. What are the advantages of these updates? Thanks for all of your help

Iggy96

The speed only I suppose and the DL support. The writing quality remains the same.

I'm a tad puzzled about the talk about Ltnflash and LTNFW. Is this software written just for cd-rw and dvd drives or is it also for flashing cdrom drives?

I have a cdrom drive that shows in Windows XP as ccd52x6s but on the top of the drive case it says LTN526S. I went to the Liteon site and downloaded the latest firmware update for this drive and ran it and got an error message saying that the drive does not match or something to that effect.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If You Go here you will find the latest firmware for you drive. It IS a LiteOn DVD ROM Drive.

No. It's just a plain old 52x cd-rom drive. The Bios as well as Windows report it as being a CCD52x6S cdrom drive but the label on the drive case reads LTN-526S, not LTN-529S. I downloaded the latest firmware flash from the Liteon site, but when I run it, I get an error message telling me the drive does not match. I'm stumped.

I meant CD ROM, and the link I sent you HAS the latest firmware, it's on the bottom, just scroll down.

The link you sent me was where I downloaded the firmware for an LTN-526S drive. The one you sent me was for an LTN-529S. Was that an error or are you saying that I can use that to update my drive? As I mentioned above, when I ran the 52sys0n.exe, I got an error telling me the drive doesn't match. What's up with that? Any ideas?

The link works, anyway, let's get beyond that and try to help you with your ongoing problem. Is your drive an OEM (Came in your computer) or did you purchase it? This could be the cause of the firmware not working if it's an OEM drive.

Just for clarification, I never said the link didn't work, I said that it pointed me to the firmware for an LTN-529S instead of an LTN-526S.

Anyhow, yes, I believe it was an OEM version, so I guess I'm screwed.

In closing, I wanna say I'm glad I found your site. You guys are fast, fast, fast in answering posts. Thanks for your help.

Stupid me, if i had only opened my eyes!!!! Apologies.

MP3Mogul -> RE: LiteON (and OEM drives) Windows Flasher (4/28/2005 6:23:10 AM)

MTech,

On to resolving your solution. You can go to DIGI's page and email him and request a .BIN file format for that latest firmware for your drive. Just tell him what drive you have, and then the firmware you need the .BIN file for. Once you get the Bin file, LTnFlash will resolve your issue permanently.....

Please post back and let us know!

I am trying to update the firmware in my LITE-ON CD-RW Drive (Model No. LTR-48126S), by using the LITE-ON's firmware update tool.  When, I click on the exe file called 2S0G.exe I get an error message (attached is the screen shot).  Somehow it does the DVD-ROM Drive first then the error message comes up.

It's possible that you may have to make it the master and flash it.
