I have a Yamaha 3200EZ CDRW drive that states it supports Rainier technolgy. How does this work? Does this mean that I do not have to use InCD (loads of problems!)?

You must use InCD or similar software to use Mt. Rainier technology. When Microsoft decides to adopt Mt. Rainier build-in in Windows operating system maybe problems will be solved

...or multiplied by the number of different software engineers put to the task of integrating it! [:p]

The latest InCD 3.51.61 can be made to run on Win 98SE, ME, 2K and XP after OS clean-ups (which aren't easy). I'm using CD-MRW with InCD on both 98SE and XP Pro SP1, for Lite-On LTR48125W VS08. Can't be sure about your Yamaha, but I'd check for the latest firmware if you want to try CD-MRW.

whats the advantage ?? only in quick formatting, yeah? or can you store more than the poultry 530mb per Cd available under incd??
I'm thinking of making my drive cd-mrw put wonder whether its worth the bother?

An 80min/700MB disc formatted by InCD 3.51.61 gives you 572MB after about 10min at 10x for CD-RW, and 539MB after 20sec for CD-MRW. CD-MRW should be more reliable due to hardware error management, but apparently no burner so far has passed the EasyWrite test (Philips burners are another story). In practice I find little difference between using CD-RW and CD-MRW under InCD, but your burner could be more sensitive. The decision whether to jump on the CD-MRW wagon is up to you.
