Well I'm not sure what you're talking about when you talk about all these comparisons with drives and such .. not in the "forum" section .... I see comparison's on the main site and that's great.

Cdfreaks.com uses vBulletin for its forum and it just seems to have a nicer layout and its features are very intuitive. videohelp.com has a nice user voting database. thses two are my favorites.

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Log In (9/9/2004 10:00:36 PM)

So how did you get rid of it because if I remember right you got it the same time that I did about 2 months ago but I can't get rid of it chose what I try and it is more than annoying. And this is the only Forum that it happens on and I visit loads as you already now Mate !!! [:)]

ROTFL !!! [:D][:D]

Imagine me raging here like Cartman from South Park cursing the "V-chip".
I just found a minute ago that suddenly I was not anymore logged in - Even while I browsed the site and composed reply to another area! After reply was done, I pressed "OK" and saw nice message about not having rights, blah blah... and of course I lost that reply, too. [:@]

Unless this is going to be fixed somehow, I'll probably be visiting here less and less in future... [:o]

WAG: It depends of security settings of users browser?
No, I don't have *.cdrinfo.com in my "trusted sites" list.
After all, site uses ads...

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Log In (9/9/2004 11:27:44 PM)

You are not on your own Mate I get e-mails everyday from Members complaining about the problem but it is out of my hands so I suggest they post them on here or e-mail the Admin !!! [:)]

I have "delete temp files when browser window is closed" active at my IE settings. I just accidentally closed IE window right after logging in... and while cookie was not deleted, I had to re-login. Apparently it's not enough if only cookie is saved, but something else needs to be available at client computer? There are not so many choices, so maybe someone has time to check the needed file(s) in temp one at a time?

As I see it, there are only two reasons why this happens:
1. Misconfiguration. (Board admin could quickly check thisa up?)
2. Buggy board software. (Update, hack and/or notice to software author?)

Oh, yeah... sorry to keep on nagging, but this needs to get fixed soon. [;)]

sp -> RE: Log In (9/11/2004 3:40:19 PM)

As I explained on this issue elsewhere, the problem is related with the new features in IIS 6.0
We need to run it in a mode that is not 100% compatible with old asp applications, as this forum is.
We need to use this mode, however, in order to make the site as fast as it is now. I mean the rest of this site, which is 100% now written in asp.net.

We will resolve the problem late next week, when we will make significant changes in our software.

Thank you all for your suggestions, critisism, and patience.
We strive hard to be in the #1 postion in the optical storage area, handling daily more than 250,000 requests!
We will try to resolve this, as well as any other problem that is brought by you to our attention.
In fact now, most public parts of our site are accesible by most newer browsers, a significant advancement over the older site design.

We need your partitipation and help.

Please feel free to tell us your suggestions and crisitisism. We welcome it...
Again, I apologize for any inconvenience our continuing strive for improvements might have caused to any of you.

PS
The forum s/w, allthough written in plain asp is very, very fast. The problem is with the way we are forced to run it in our servers.

sp -> RE: Log In (9/11/2004 3:49:11 PM)

And please let us know which exactly features that you find and you are acustomed into using in other forum designs, is missing or does not work properly in our forum.

This forum is by far the best asp based board available, and this is the reason we chose to use it.

I ask you, our precious readers, on submitting your suggestions here, as myself do not have enough free time to be involved in every board out there.
My knowledge on any missing or poorly implemented feature of this forum is thus rather limited.

I promise to implement any such feature myself, provided there is a wide aknowledge on its usefullness...

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Log In (9/11/2004 3:57:43 PM)

Well getting some Decent Smilies would be nice !!! [:D]

sp -> RE: Log In (9/12/2004 6:04:00 AM)

I really do not know how and where to find them.
Can you e-mail me some?

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Log In (9/20/2004 7:17:20 PM)

Please anyone having the cookie/auto login problem read this:

Please try appending a / at the forum url when first loging in into our forum.

That is, use:

http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/

not:

http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum

Please anyone having this issue resolved because of this "manouver" reposrt back here in order us to replace existing internal site navigation links.

Thank you all both for your patience and help you have been providing us in order to have this annoying issue disappear...

I think I might have found something on this matter. I have visited the forum on some ocassions from different pages on the site and have been logged in automaticaly. I tried several times to duplicate it but had no success till now.
Here are my findings
when first visiting the main site type out the full url like this
www.cdrinfo.com
not cdrinfo.com
notice the missing www at the beginning

another not from before
also when visiting directly to the forum type out the url like this
www.cdrinfo.com/Forum
not www.cdrinfo.com/forum
notice the lower and capital F

BTW I am using firefox and have confirmed this with IE too.

hope this helps out

With a newly launched browser and connect to http://www.cdrinfo.com/Forum/
This works fine (automatically login)

S33K3R, you are an unbelievable freakin genius!!!!!!!!!! May the gods bestow fortune on you and your children for many generations to come!

In case you didn't pick up on that, it works for me using the "Forum" instead of "forum". Just for everyone else that has been having this problem, I had to first go to it by using the "Forum", then login and save cookies. It didn't work until I logged in using the "F" first.

arith -> RE: Log In (9/21/2004 12:00:39 PM)

sp, please find the cookie which's name is "ForumASPplayground%5Fforum"
It's Host value is "www.cdrinfo.com"
And it's Path value is "/Forum"

This explain why with Path "/forum" will not automatically login

sp_admin -> RE: Log In (9/21/2004 12:53:45 PM)

I changed the path to the lower case version:

/forum

However, I expect the login problem will still exist for some more days, that is until we move to a newer server.
This will be due to the automatic recycling of our server once or twice per day.
During this brief time (about 1 minute) loged in readers might lose their loged in status.

As I have not verified this 100%, please anyone experiencing this problem post here.
