Getting closer...getting closer.

This morning, I have had the pleasure of speaking to Mr James Lo - head rep. for Audiodev [CATS] in Taiwan/Hong Kong. He informs me that LiteOn has made the recent aquisition of 20 CATS based analysis systems. When I asked why he promptly told me that the PUH implementation, about to hit its FOURTH generation, was needing work. When asked about the subtle differences in the PUH's themselves, he said they were far from subtle.....and in context of CATS, a whole different kettle of fish to deal with

Thats really all I could ascertain in the long run. I am sure there is much more to it, but that is not for me to know - rather, this is LiteOn's business with AudioDev.

So, the plot thickens. Raises more questions again really...

Gotta keep digging

Good information there zebra, lets see if LiteON can make the miracle and improve the not-so-good-with-current-firmware 1213S drive, our review is coming very soon, and as you can imagine isn't so positive towards the LiteON drive[:o]!

So much for client confidentiality. Isn't it illegal for AudioDev to disclose that kind of information? But yes, the 4th generation should be coming up... generation 1 = 01S/11S; 2 = 51S/2S; 3 = 3S; 4 = 5_, as LiteOn has a history of skipping the '4' in its generational numbering.

[:)] Yeah code, I thought that myself! But in seriousness, he didnt tell me anything that was in any way confidential to my knowledge. Just told me:

i) LiteOn has the units now

ii) LiteOn need the units to improve (or, that is how they feel they CAN improve)

iii) Multiple PUH iterations thus far for undisclosed reasons.

I am relatively sure, he is all above board here.

Just to throw a log in the fire..... I read an article today, WISH I HAD KEPT THE WEBSITE, but it was from a MAJOR WEBSITE, stating they had received a LiteOn 832S for testing from Liteon. They said they were a bit concerned because the outside of the drive said 812S, but LiteOn assured them that the drive was flashed to an 832S drive, their newest drive, and that their were "NO" differences between the drives other than firmware.

Take it with a grain of salt..... but it does appear, they are in fact the same drive.

Btw, Japanese users told me that its confirmed, NEC 2500A+ is a NEC2500A Herries 107v2B5!!!! This is what we can call fraud(?)[:@]

I Can't look in my history, I use Window Washer, and it cleans it........ EVERYTHING each time I log off..... But I would not report this unless I knew it to be a fact.

I bat Lite-On will surely skip the "4" numbering. It's just because Lite-On is generated from a 30-year-old cooperate group and this group is operated by traditional Chineses. In Mandarin society, the "4" is pronoused like the "death" and is something equivalent to the "13th Friday" in Western world.
