I'm sorry to hear that Scott1. Newegg is now selling the plex 48x for only $125 now (OEM and Retail same price). [:0]

I just wish I could decide between getting the Plex 48x or the F1!!! It's driving me nuts [xx(]

The F1 sounds good, but a friend of mine had one and it died on him... but then I hear everyone saying how much they love the yamahas.

Then of course Plextors have been known to be reliable, I haven't seen a bad post about them failing yet.

John gave the F1 the Editor's Choice award, while the plex 48x got the Safe Buy award.

..... nuts! Maybe I should screw all this hesitation and make a freakin decision to buy the Plextor. See ya'll later.

Yes, I noticed the new Newegg price and sent them an email last week. They unfortunately told me that their prices are final at the time of sale. Guess it serves me right for buying it as soon as it was released. I am happy with it though, and it is the way of the computer world.

Both drives are very good. The YAMAHA drive has some technologies that Plextor 48X hasn't and via-versa. Reading the reviews, should give you an idea of the performance and what you can expect from buying. I admit its hard to choose between both drives, but after all we don't have to choose, we get them all [:D] [:I]

Do you get to keep them afterwards too? Oh yeah, and the review said the Plex 48x can burn up to 94 min, how many megs is that? How about for 99 min?

Not all times, we do have to update reviews with future firmware upgrades! As for 94mins would be around 950mb?

Unfortunaly no. Hopefully the 1.02 will fix most of the problems
