afivian -> InCD problems in Windows NT4.0 (sp6) (6/18/2002 3:14:26 AM)

I am having problems with InCD. Here is the spec;
Windows NT 4.0 SP6
Yamaha CRW3200S (SCSI) - Firmware 1.0d
InCD 3.31.0

I am using the drive to store an Outlook pst file. When reading a writing from this in Outlook I get very poor performance and it often freezes up. I thought it was the size of the pst file (180MB) however I have tried testing with a much smaller file (20MB). I have tried formatting the CDRW normally and with CD-MRW.

Any ideas? Also what is CAV and when should it be used?

Cheers

Just as a test, if you first write the file to your HD, and then just drag and drop to the CDRW, do you have problems there too?

Craig

Nah, copying the file to the CD in NT explorer works fine. Also, reading from the pst in Outlook works ok. The problem just seems to occur when writing to the pst in Outlook. Some times it freezes and other times in seems to not attempt any writing of updates to the pst until you close Outlook. A colleague has got the same setup but he uses several much smaller pst files on the CD (5-15MB each). I think the problem is just the size of the file. Do you agree?.

Should I be using CAV? What difference does it make?
Cheers
