CP-Geek -> LG 8320B OC and how to do it (6/9/2002 9:30:44 AM)

Just flashed my LG 8320B (32x 10x 40x) burner to 8400B (40x 10x 40x) and I thought to share it with You guys :)

What You need:

- Dos bootfloppy
- Firmware's ( 8320B and 8400B )
- Hex-editor

After unzipping the firmware's You have two flash utils, Je3.exe and Je4.exe. Modify the Je4.exe in a hex-editor, search for ANSI-strings "8400B" and modify these to show "8320B" ( Without quotes, of course ) and save the new .exe for example as "mod.exe"

Then, copy the altered .exe to a clean floppy, along with the -hex file from the 8400B firmware-zip. ( ATTENTION! also copy the 8320 files, .hex and Je3.exe to another floppy, just in case...)

Now, boot with a floppy, after it's booted insert the floppy with 8400B .hex and modded.exe and type a:\modded.exe name_of_the.hex and off You go.

After rebooting go to bios and check what the bios recognizes as You CD-RW, and boot it to windows, and check everything.

I don't take ANY RESPONSIBILITY if You ruin Your burner, I just wanted to test this, and it worked fine.

Just burned a 670 Mb .iso in 3.02, and it was perfect. :)

I've been reading about how to overclock LG CDRW and I was wondering whether it was possible to do the same thing to the LG 8080B?

The answer to all your 8320B questions !!!

I post there as BetrayerX so I have proof in images that flashing the 8320B to a 8400B (40x12x40x w/P-CAV and rumored Mount Rainier).

Later I found that only the 2MB version supports Mount Rainier and not the 8MB.

I'm not evil.....what you see is just a reflection of all that sorrounds us.
