desicator -> DVD-R's and burning data problems (12/3/2001 12:38:35 AM)

Equipment -
G4/400 - OS9.1
pioneer DVR -r/rw A03 in firewire extnl housing
using Toast titanium 5
Problem - Very very slow reading the directory & files.

I burnt an image of my HDD to a dvd-r general purpose disk and got a error buffer under run message, and it said failed to be written. I checked the disk and all the files are there, the ones I checked seemed to be fine. Except - it takes 10 to 30sec to open any folder off the root directory or deeper. To catalogue the disk in CD-finder catalogue s/w it takes about 30 to 40min (for a 700mb cdr it takes about 2-5sec). Am i not doing something right?? Is this just how it is, and is supposed to be slow?? does anyone have the same problem or have an answer please
thanx
