Your existing drive reports smaller or the new one?  Are you sure you have the drive jumped correctly?  Can you provide some details about your system?  Does your system support at least ATA66?  Make sure you do not have the drive jumped to limit capacity... some drives have this for backward compatibility with older systems.

no my existing hd shows smaller than it is.shows 30 gb but actually is 120gb so 80 gb unused. .It was jumped too limit space so I took that jumper off .I found all this as I was installing a second hd too be a slave, secondary whatever you want too call it. dont know what ata66 is so I cant answer that .
my system is as follows..
p4 1.3ghz  640 mb ram.nividia graphics card.
so what I want to know is.. can I remove partition so I can use all 120 gb without losing everything. If you need anymore info than this let me know thanks for your help.

I would recommend a partitioning tool like Partition Magic (if Symantic has not crippled it too much) or Vcom's Partition Commander to resize your partition with less risk.
