I have 2 Lite-On drives.  One is a DVD+/- R/RW DL drive and the other is a CD R/RW DVD-ROM drive.  i used to have a samsung DVD DL writer, but i didn;t like they way it burned (lots of mistakes) so i got a lite-on to replace it.  the Samsung and the Lite-on CD worked together, but once i put in the Lite-on DVD burner, it stopped working.  checked the power canles, IDE cables, jumper settings, nothing seems to get it to work. 

any suggestions?

Hi friend! I would suggest installing LIteON as MASTER and Samsung as SLAVE. Check the IDE cable and jumpers and use them as commented before. If that doesn't work either, update motherboard BIOS and reverse them (Samsung Master/LiteOn Slave). Let us know if that solved the problem
