I just had my MSI CR52-A2 goes out on me and I had to waste about 10-15 disc before I found that out. So what Iam asking is ... Are there any diagnostic test that I can do on my drive so I wont waste another 10-15 discs trying to find that out again.

If the latest firmware didn't help you then bye bye drive. I don't know any test which can confirm the drive's writing ability. Even if you simulate before burning everything will seems to be ok.
