shimman -> what's the best DVD burner for the most accurate scan? (1/5/2006 2:51:30 AM)

i am using dw1620 & px-716a as scanning devices, but they are giving me quiet different values.

what would be ultimate scanner that would reflect the burning quality most accurately?

ultimate scanner ? A DataRious equipment or even AudioDEV, but for those you would need more than $100000...[:D]

If you read in cdrinfo.com review you'll see that it is imposible to get the same results from to different applications or drives, and sometimes even from two same drives.

We can say that there isn't any drive more reliable than others since the error they report are based upon their internal structure (lens, chipset, error correction mechanism, etc). That means a disc that is perfectly playback at a drive, may fail at other (rare but possible). So you cannot have a "perfect drive", Pro testing equipement may be more useful for such tests...

thanks for your info ;)

i was bit paranoria about the writing quality because of data loss from the hdd backup dvd disk which was verified when nero burnt the data. strange thing is that nero cd/dvd speed 4.10 reported  the score of 97 from the scan benq dw1620 did on that unreadable disk. however, disk test on nero cd/dvd speed 4.10 showed unreadable blocks here & there. the disk i used was imation 8x +r disk with media code prodisc r03 03

will anyone suggest me what i should do to make sure writing quality is good ?

Keep for reference a standard drive/software for scans and if you have a 16X reader check if at such speeds the reading is smooth, with CDSPEED for example.
