zebra -> zebra needs a tester! IEEE1394/ External Firewire enclosure users please! (7/26/2005 6:52:40 AM)

Hi all,

We need to test a bug in the current version of DVDInfoPro, that we are working on, concerning IEEE1394/firewire external caddy/controllers. If you have your DVD writer in an external firewire caddy, please, I emplore you to contact me. You will be rewarded for your time and efforts in the changelogs, being given credit for your contribution to DVDInfoPro!

Any testers interested would be MOST appreciated!

zebra

Zebra, I have one but it's a Plex 716A in the external enclosure, it does both firewire and USB 2.0.....

Plextor. :(

Would have a LiteOn drive handy, which you can pop into it? Just need LiteOn type PIE/PIF reporting, rather than Plex (large differences).....

I'd have a Nu-Tech DVDRW DDW-082 (B377) in a IEEE1394 enclosure (GL711 chipset) on offer if that is any help...

Liteon Combo (aka Sony CRX320E) in Safecom (EPASS chipset) firewire/USB enclosure (using firewire), with VIA controller on Intel PCI-E motherboard

Mine is a sealed enclosure, can't open it for warranty reasons yet.

PFY can help! Please PM me your email address PFY. I need to send you a DVDInfoPro beta, so we can test! :)

Here's the info you requested - my IEEE1394 controller is a PCI card with VIA chipset (1106:3044) fitted in an Asrock K7S8XE (SiS748 chipset)...

dear zebragood luck for new version of dvdinfoproi believe that it ll be perfect again :) i guess you are going to add some new features that is cooli suggest that could you add a percentage for dvd media quality (pi/po scanning)we know that in many drives for good scan results pi should be under 280and pif should be under 32for example pi is 300 and pif is 5 other side pi is 250 pif is 15 which is the best?how can we compare?for example different dvd media pi/po results can compare each other by using percentage can you combine pi/pif avg results and can you get a percentage?

zebra -> RE: zebra needs a tester! IEEE1394/ External Firewire enclosure users please! (8/3/2005 6:37:25 AM)

Hi unfair,

Whilst this is a very good idea, we will need to come up with an appropriate algorithm to "make" a % (percentage) that actually makes some sence. It is very hard to make a number that means anything from parity data, as a result any addition/division/subtraction of PI/PO would result in a number that does not mean too much

We need to think about this some more. :)

As always. Thank you for the suggestion! You are a good contributor to the community! [:D]
