Hello! I bought a dvd-burner a fews days ago and am now testing packet-writing on this device. i installed demo-versions of nero 6.0.0.15 and incd 4.0.5.6. At the beginning i had problems with nero itself, got the bsod while burning. i did a reinstall of the os (winxp sp1), added the newest drivers for chipset, ide, etc... now nero works fine, but incd cannot format any dvd+rw. Ok, it fails with DVD+RW medias, I will try to find this device and reproduce this problem. - What about CD-RW? Failing also or you succeed formating them?

Also, I see that your ASPI is 4.71, this is very unstable for windowsXP, the most stable version for WinXP is 4.60. Laffin has provided us with a ASPI fix file, that you can download on the below link. READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY! Hi all! I tried to format a CD-RW-Media, it worked. Unfortunately i cannot use the formated media. Error: "Windows cannot read from the disk." I did the test on my CD-Burner Aopen CRW-4850 also, with the same result: Format OK, but no chance to read the formated media. I will try the ASPI-Fix and post the results. Thanks so far, Knilchi72

I tested this device today, but I am unable to reproduce the error you described. :-( I was able to format a HighSpeed CD-RW (80Min, from Philips) and write data on it. I was also able to format a DVD+RW from Verbatim and write ~4,3 Gb of data without problem, eject, reload, compare the data with not differences. Weird! ;-? Then I updated my firmware to the newest I could found, still no problem with InCD.

Hi all! So, i finally know a little bit better, where the problem is. i've used the latest BusMaster-Drivers from Via, version 3.20. When i remove the files and use the included XP-drivers, InCD works fine. The problem is, that i get a bluescreen while burning with nero (0x0000008e). Using the Busmaster-Driver, Nero works fine, but InCD cannot format any drive. uaaaaaahhh... tell me, what shall i do? Greets, Knilchi72

Maybe you should contact VIA techsupport to report the issue, they might have a solution. And check if there exist maybe an alternative (older) driver for your chipset that have better stability. Did VIA release a Microsoft WHQL certified driver for your hardware?
