dc_519 -> New DVD Player. (6/20/2005 12:49:23 AM)

Ok, so my old Apex is out of date and can barely even play DVDs anymore.  Time for me to get a new one.  I found two within my price range, the LG LDA-530 or the Philips DVP642.  Was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with either or if maybe there are better ones out there.  To me these 2 look like the best for under $100.

Thx

Check also Pioneer's cheap models. I have two different Pioneer and no problems at all.[;)]

I have checked those out, but I am interested in one that will be able to play everything.  According to Pioneer's website they are unable to play DVD+Rs.  I picked the above 2 because they seem to be able to play everything, even XVID and DIVX.

I assure you, I have 3 pioneers, they all say they will not play DVD +R.  However, if you use bitsetting, when writing your +R's the pioneer's will play them without any problems, including dual layer.

I have the DV-454, the DV-370 and recently my girl took the DV-2750. All of them can play all formats except DVD-RAM and yet I haven't try any DVD-R DL.

The DV-578A sounds amazing, dvd player with DVD-Audio and SACD support only at 199$? Wow[:)]

yes...even better I get it for $139.99 CAD.  So even though its not listed, it should be able to everything like xvid, divx, etc...except DVD-Ram media correct?

I am not sure about DivX and Xvid, actually I believe it cannot play them.
