i burnt 1 Verbatim DL +R before with success (5-7 PF errors).  Im trying to backup Gladiator and ive gone through 3 Verbatim DL +R's with terrible results.  2 of them got over 20 PF errors (one was burnt at 4x accidnetly though)... my best result was 9 PIF errors (burnt at 2.4x).  Verbatim DL media is supposed to be the best currently out and im having such crappy luck with them all of a sudden.

has anyone else burnt a Verbatim DL DVD+R with 3.04 firmware?  is there a better firmware for writing DL media?

heres my most recent failure.  Seems like all my discs burnt have high peaks near the end of the burn.  I used DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO image.

I think that the writing quality should be good and CDSpeed might giving you wrong results.

the movies do seem to playback fine... why do you think CD speeds giving wrong results?

edit: ok, now im really getting worried.  I just burnt one of my Ricohjpnr01 Ridata DVDR's which i also usually get good results with get huge PIF spikes...  what the hells going on?  is my drive faulty?

I own this drive and its perfect. Thus in CDRinfo's review the writing quality is also excellent.

yeah but dont you think its kind of odd that im getting really bad results lately and ive been using the same firmware for a while now and nothing has changed, only my results.

i also scanned some of my other DVD's that were burnt a month ago and the scans are normal.  My drive is still under warranty, do you think i should RMA it?

edit: nm, i just scanned a DL Verbatim disc i burnt before that got ok scans, now i checked it and it got 19 max PIF...  i dont know what to think.  I find it really wierd that im getting terrible scans all of a sudden and its really bugging me =\.  Do you think somethings wrong with the laser?  im tempted to rma it anyway...

how about the dl media? they supposed to be Verbatims but are they branded or it is possible to be fake?

RMA is free so yes why not...

no, theyre definitely not fake Verbatim.  I buy from a very reputable blankmedia store here in Canada.
