sjoon -> Nero Incd Problem (6/11/2003 5:56:14 PM)

I have a problem with nero incd... I've searched for a solution but i can't find one. [:(!]

This is the problem:
If I insert an incd-formatted cd, xp normally displays a green icon on the systemtray; this doesn't happen and if i want to write something to the disc, xp places the files in a queue. But even when I say he has to put the queued files on cd, xp tells me that there isn't a writeable disc...
Can somebody help me... [?]

Thanks

Can you provide us a screenshot of your windows explorer when "xp places the files in a queue"?

the first sentence is: Files ready to be put on cd
the second sentence is: Files already on cd

PS: I'm sorry for the messy link but this forum automatically generates a link when something starts with www...

the link doesnt seem to work but you can see the url: h ttp://studw ww.rug.ac.be/~jdesmedt/incdproblem.jpg (without the spaces)

Yes, looks like the forum code have some trouble here. But was able to find your screenshot.

Ok, apparently IMAPI, the burning engine of XP, have grabbed the CD. That is strange, let's check some points:

- In the first tab of device properties, you can see what filesystem did mount the media. When InCD is installed, that should be INCDFS. Can you check what filesystem did claim your CD?

- In the registry, check that in the key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\ExcludedFS]

The value "INCDFS" exist and is an empty string. (Additionnal filesystems that IMAPI shall not disturb are also present there).

sjoon -> RE: Nero Incd Problem (6/12/2003 1:35:20 PM)

The filesystem is INCDFS, and in my registry these are the values in excludeFS:
h ttp://studw ww.ugent.be/~jdesmedt/reg_excludeFS.jpg
they all contain an empty string (no value)

Alright, it seems clear that IMAPI shell integration is correctly informed that it shall not touch the media but it did it nevertheless. Microsoft bug?? Maybe a corrupted Windows XP installation, as this is not reproducible on the test lab of our QA.

Ok, to workaround the problem you can manually disable IMAPI by going to the drive properties, "Recording" tab, and unchecking "Enable CD Recording ...". Or if you are courageous, you can try to contact Microsoft techsupport.

I didn't tell you that before I installed an upgrade for incd, i could write an incd after coming out of stand-by-mode... I explain: when i inserted the cd, I couldn't write, but after he had gone in sleep-mode he said the incd was ready to be written...
After the upgrade this didn't go anymore.

Our engineers are currently improving suspend/standby/hibernate support and this should be ready for the next web update (should). We did not yet test IMAPI interaction after standby, but obviously we will have to. :-/

dburg -> RE: Nero Incd Problem (6/18/2003 6:36:32 PM)

We will probably not have time to fix interaction with IMAPI during hibernate/resume for next web version, but you should be able to work around the problem in next version by either ejecting and reloading the disc after resume from hibernate, or by disabling XP CD recording on this device (both workarounds have been tested successfully by our QA during qualification of next web version).
