dude, the support people weren't wrong. you cannot flash using aopen's flash utility because your drive is not specifically identified as AOpen CRW2040. the flash utility checks to make sure the name is the same or else it refuses to flash.
see this thread on how to flash generic aopen drives using the DOS flasher. obviously, replace the 4850 stuff with the 2040 files:
