The enter firmware version can't upgrade this drive!
Why ? is different for retail and oem drives ?
My drive is oem, solution ?

yes retail and bulk have different firmware, you can however convert your retail to bulk

The link you are looking for is the p2.2 firmware link in the firmware forum and then about 5 posts down you will find the link to convert your bulk pbdv1640p to dvdr1640p.

So you can then flash using the p3.4 firmware upgrade......

I convert with P22 CVT file and winDWFlash
and updated with philips DVDR1640 3.4
I have now retail philips writer :)
