Topher -> Read speed on Hitachi GD-5000 only 1.5x (2/10/2005 8:43:50 PM) I've got a Hitachi GD-5000 set as master on the 2ndary IDE channel. I recently put a Pioneer 108 as slave on it. The read speed of the Hitachi while ripping DVDs is only 1.6x. I'm pretty sure it's rated as 8x. I don't remember it being this slow before. What should I look at? Driver? Firmware? I don't think there would be a driver, & I haven't found any firmware upgrades.
