My old Toshiba 12x DVD-ROM (SD-M1402) was having problems ejecting a disc, so I opened it up to see what was wrong. It looks like the little plastic gear that is attached to the tray motor has a crack in it which is causing an irregular gap (i.e. larger) in between two of the gears teeth. This is causing it to not turn the other gear and just spin on the motor's little axle. So my question is, does anyone know where I can find small plastic gears? Only thing I can think of is a hobby shop where they sell RC cars? If not, is the new Toshiba/Samsung (TSST) SD-M1912 any good compared to the older SD-M1612, SD-M1712, or SD-M1802? Not counting the RPC1 and riplock hacks from RPC1.org.
