Hi, i just got a NEC 3500a today and I would like to upgrade my firmware. I use Ritek Ridata 4x DVD-R 4.7GB MEDIA and I would like to know which firmware will let me burn these media at 6x speed?

Also, are the 3500A and 3500AG the same burners? What is bitsetting? What is booktype and Riplock?

have a look at this post on another forum here, there are links there also that will explain to you what bitsetting and booktype are (I have no idea myself, about to have a read through)

Also in that forum are links to firmwares that will allow you to burn to Ritek DVD's at 12x :)
