Hi guys,

It's been a while since I last came here, been happy with my last firmware upgrade (2k5107v2b5dl by Herrie) on my 2500A, but lately I've been facing some issues:
-when recording at 8X with Princo dvd-r 4x, although it says it's recording at 8X, in fact it takes as much time as recording at 4X (at 6X is ok: +/- 10min)
-when recording at 8X with Platinum dvd+r 8X it takes 10min. (as it should at 6X)

Any solution? Herrie's web site is still down

Emperor, please listen to my praies and tell me you found a newer firmware that can solve this...

P.S.:I'm using Nero 6.6 if it helps

I've been checking the forum... has everyone sold their 2500A or are they simply forgotten?!? I know, they're old news now, but hey, they still are pretty good...

Avoid those Princo media, they are the lowest quality you can find.

Check your DMA setting, maybe you've been downgraded by XP to PIO or something.
Check the emperor FAQ about UDMA and XP/W2000.

Hi Iggy and Italian job,

First, thank you both for your reply. It's sometimes hard for a newbie like myself to find his way in this many forums...
Second, I'm now trying Quikee's new mix (half mad dog, half Harrie). If it works properly, is just what I was looking for... maybe you should try too.

in reply to Italian job, I may have some issue that is reducing my speed (it's been a while since I last formatted my pc...), but it's not on the DMA for sure. I'm using it in an external USB2 unit....
