Actually, I'm new to all these, so I don't know how detrimental these errors are to the data.
All I can gather from the review is that the POF should be zero, and the PIE and POE erros kept as low as possible.
But can you please explain briefly, what these errors are, and what thresholds I should keep a lookout for, if I'm burning data for archiving purposes?
And do the PIE/POE errors mean that there are errors in the data burnt to the DVD?

From the review, the errors for the Verbatim DVD+R are (PIE/POE/POF) :
4X burning @ 4X : 2117/0/0
8X burning @ 12X : 3721/6133/0
16X burning @16X : 1181/337/0

So, can you please tell me what the errors are, for Verbatim 8X DVD+R burning @ 8X, so that I can compared the results with 4X burning @ 4X, or 16X @ 16X.

Well, I've solved my problem with using an 80-pin cable and moving the CD-ROM device on a cable with HDD, leaving the DVD writer alone on the second cable. Now it works just fine. I've also downloaded some firmware and I was wondering if it's necessery to install these 'cause the risk of destroying the drive is so high...

A few days ago I contacted the Nordic LG support about this, and their reply was (roughly translated by me):

"We have received many requests regarding this and it's a standing request to the development group in Korea. From what I've heard, there are plans to introduce it in the next generation, namely for GSA-4163, but not for 4160."

This is obviously very disappointing information, if true, but I hope my source has been misinformed. LG released updated firmware supporting this for 4120B, right? It would be odd if they didn't do it for 4160B also. Maybe if even more people requested it...;-)
