Many people here think that booktype can be supported with future f/w for LG4160B.

What I am concerned is whether the following expectation is possible via new f/w :

1)DVD-R : 8X-->16X ??
2)DL : 2.4-->4X ??
3)DVD-RAM : higher than 5X or verifying during writing disabled

The truth is that LG is not used in such upgrades. I think the booktype will be added and some media IDs. Probably for marketing reasons will release another drive capable of what you asked.

However it is not impossible, I just see what did in the past, but this might change ( I also wish to)
