Hi all,

Similar to a question on burning multiple vcds on a dvd, is it possible to burn multiple rmvb files on a dvd? Is re-encoding a must in this case?

Thanks!

That's true.

You can simply burn all your rmvb files into DVD media as data, and play them with PC.

But if you prefer to play them on DVD-Player, then you must convert them to MPEG2 file format and using some authoring s/w to make them become standard DVD format.

If I am not wrong, TMPGEnc Plus can convert rmvb files to MPEG-2. Try it.

After converting to MPEG-2 files, then using TMPGEnc DVD Author to merge them into on single DVD Video disc.

Thanks eleajar and arith!

The size after re-encoding to MPEG-2 would be much larger than the original? What's a typical figure, would it be like... 2x or 3x larger than the original rmvb files?

I think that might due to the "bitrate" for video and audio.

You should confirm the original rmvb's bitrate for video and audio.
When converting them to MPEG-2, try to re-set the default bitrate number.

I think TMPGEnc Plus might give you a default 8000 bitrate for the video which is too big for a lower resolution and lower quality video source.

With the bitrate set to 1000 for the convered MPEG-2 might be a good try, still depends on your source's quality.

Hello, I tried that.

convert .rmvb into .mpg using MPEG4 Direct Maker,
Then use Tmpgenc DVD Author 1.6 to merge multiple .mpg into a DVD-R.

Video ok, Sound ok on PC but not on my Onkyo DVD player (no sound),
do anyone know the issue for fix?

Do I need set booktype to DVD-ROM, I burn using NEC2510A fw2.15, how / by dvdinfopro or any relieable software ? And need upgrade to fw 2.16 first ?

Any idea thanks.
