Hi Folks!

I have a very strange Problem:

When I'm converting Films/TV-Shows to a VCD-compliant MPG (using TMPEnc) and creating a VCD with NERO (5.5.9.14), this VCD is playable on my Stand-alone DVD-Player and also under the OS I made this VCD (XP SP1).
But no other OS I tested (NT,W2K) is capable of playing this VCD, neither with "Windows Media Player", nor "PowerDVD 4" !!!
WMP says something like "no recognized format" and PDVD says "DVD corrupt".
I haven't tested another XP-System yet (perhaps I can do this later this evening).
Again: DVD-Player (stand-alone) and XP-System I used to create the CD have no problems with playback!!!

Is it something like a "copy-protection" from XP?

Can anybody help me, please?
Thx

No this isn't a WinXP problem, something has messed up the system drivers, try a fresh installation

Thx for your answers!

Here's something new I've figured out last evening:

The created VCDs are working on every WinXP-System - and only on these! (not on any other OS) ... and of course on Stand-Alone-Players.

I made a test early this morning:

I took a VCD-compatible MPG (ZZTop-Video) and made a VCD-Image with VCDGear3.06 -> burnt with CDRWin -> it's working without problems on any other OS!
I took the same MPG and made a VCD with Nero -> only working under XP!

Seems to be a problem in combination with Nero + XP (+ perhaps my Plextor)?!

Think I will tell Ahead about this problem, too.

Not sure the cause, but I am burning VCDs and SVCDs under XP and use NERO and they work fine in every computer I try. Win2000 and Win98 and other machines with XP. Strange problem you got there.....

Try setting the CD to ISO level 1, and take off joliet. See if that helps.

Strike!

I switched to MODE1 (before that Mode2 was selected) and turned Joliet and loose Restrictions off - now it works!
To be sure i tried another option:
Selected Mode1 and left Joliet on (loose Restrictions turned off) - the VCD is not working.

When i'm back home i will do a few more experiments to become 100% sure what option makes the CDs unreadable on other systems.

MODE1 and JOLIET OFF for now is perfectly working!

Thx Graffitti and all others!
