It's me Gradius. :P

Since I never got e-mail by using rpc1 e-mail, I registered again.

Well, I have a simple question about this program.

When I start the program and click on media icon, I get these informations:

Disc Regions are
Media code/Manufacturer ID
Format Type
Volume Name
Application id
Implementation id
Recording Date/Time (mm/dd/yyyy)
Format Capacity
Book Type
Media Type
Data area starting sector
Data area end sector
Linear Density
Track Density
Number of Layers

I want to know which command is that? What's the equivalent for "Read blocks from media", or in "read dvd struct commands".

Another one is, if I have a DVD-ROM (or burner) capable to BARCODE read, how can I read them into numbers or alphanumerics?

Thanks and keep the good work on DVDInfoPro.

Gradius

For barcode I found this product, but it's professional and industrial oriented.

Must be really expensive.

Okay, I found these infos about barcode, hope it helps:

It's called BCA area, stand for Burst Cutting Area.

The Burst Cutting Area (BCA) is an annular area within the disc hub where a bar code can be written for additional information such as serial numbers. The BCA can be written during mastering and will be common for all discs from that master or, more usually, will be written using a YAG laser to 'cut' the barcode into the aluminium reflective layer of the finished disc.

The data stored in the BCA can be from 12 bytes to 188 bytes in steps of 16 bytes. The ill-fated Divx format used BCA to uniquely identify every disc. New uses of this or similar technologies are being developed to use the BCA as a unique, tamper-proof means of identifying individual discs.

BCA specs:
- Radius: 22.3 to 23.5mm
- Data: 12 to 188 bytes
- Can be read by DVD drive

Would be really nice to see barcode read on next DVDInfoPro release/version.

Hi Gradius and welcome to our forum, probably since rpc1.org email server needs authorization before accept your messages, it returned back to our email server and somewhere around there lost...Nicw could use your information and add this to a newer DVDInfoPro version

This needs addressing as a design issue of clarity I think!

As for barcode-capable reading, I don't think if a drive is actually capable, any part of class of InfoPro can facilitate the dumping out of the barcode (yet!)....

Might have to chat to NicW about this!

Sorry for repeating, but I still do not get the answer for:

About media icon and the equivalent for "Read blocks from media", or in "read dvd struct commands" ?

You can send me an e-mail with the answer if you want.

Sorry Gradius I have just been so busy with work, I have not had the time to be here too. The media info
is made up of many commands, and data being read from everywhere. If I knew which specific lines you
are referring to I can check over my code again, lots of this was written donkeys ago.

the barcode stuff is great, and I look forward to getting some time to look at it.
