The LiteON LDW-811S can read DVD+R DL with DVD-ROM booktype. Let's see the major differences of error level while using various reading speeds. We used Nero CD-DVD Speed to "scan" the burned disc.

And here is the last (and maximum) reading speed, 8X!

- Conclusion

As it seems, reading DVD+R DL media at 1X will give the lower error rate. At 2X the drive reported much higher error rate for the Layer0 and the same for Layer1. The 4X/6X and 8X reading speeds simply gives not correct PI/PIF error rates and really should be avoided...
