VS06 is by far the best for the LTR-48125W, but by no means perfect, unfortunately...

But VS02 is faster for 24X, 32X and 40X writing as it starts at the same speed for those slower speeds as if it was writing at max (48X)... VS06 starts at about 19X rather than 22X when writing at 40X or slower wich can inprove writing quality.

Hopefully Lite-On can release a 'better' firmware for the 48125W soon as VS06 has been out for ages, and media compatibility needs improvement.

Is there like a contant time frame before the next firmware arrives. Can't wait for the next to be released. And another thing does Lite-on ever stop releasing new firmwares after some time? There at least be new firmwares for LTR-48125W to upgrade for at least another 2-3 years right`?? thats is if my drive is still hot and burning`!

No, no time frames what so-ever, just when Lite-On see fit.

They will probably continue to support the drive for a fair while, but I doubt 2 years!
