Yep DVD2SVCD is an exceptional program, and it handles VCD's of recent times too I think...?!!

(I can't remember, 'cause I never tried to encode a VCD with DVD2SVCD)

Yes the latest version allows you to make VCDs and SVCDs. I personally like the SVCDs too much to bother going back to VCDs, there is such a quality increase! But it does make a very nice VCD if that is what you are after.

But isn't the DVD2SVCD just for riping DVDs? What i need is to create a VCD or SVCD from avi, and add subtitles which are usually *.sub or *.txt files. And that's what i didn't find in DVD2SVCD. Do u know what software can do this?

Well you did not say that..... To convert an avi to a VCD I always use TMPGEnc or Nero to convert it and burn it, but to add subtitles you would need the DVD anyways, so my first answer is still the way to go. Forget the avi and go from DVD to SVCD or VCD with DVD2SVCD. The subtitle files are on the DVD and unless they were ripped and installed in the original AVI you would need the DVD anyways....
