can i rip a videocd to my computer and convert it to mpeg1?

??? already is mpeg1 but go to www.vcdhelp.com should find what you want there!

As srooibook has pointed out VCD's are already MPEG1 encoded. If you put the VCD in your PC you should find one or more .DAT files in one of the folders. These are in fact MPEG1 movie files and will play quite happily if you open them up with Media Player.

If you are referring to converting the DAT file to an MPEG file, you can use VCDCutter.
