What kind of CD-R did you use for the backup?
I have tried three:
Taiyo Yuden ‘That’s CD-R CDR-80TY’ Green\Blue writing surface
Infiniti ‘S9126E1-CR080G00 IFPI L585’ Light Green writing surface
Unknown make ‘R035-0005-5205’ (over 8 years old) Silver writing surface
All three exhibit the same behaviour. Initially the three disks are read after a short time but over the next few weeks they all become harder to read eventually throwing system read errors. The disks are written with Clone CD. When I insert the original CD (Teleatlas) that disk is read almost instantaneously and continues without errors.
The Satnav drive is part of the Mercedes Benz Comand car entertainment system with music CD’s being handled by a separate CD auto-changer in a year 2000 car.
As stated if I use the original CD the system works without problems it just does not seem to like burned disks.
