You know how if you hold down "Alt 65" in notepad you can make the letter A, recently I've noticed that when I try that I make weird symbols as if to my computer the number 65 doesn't represent a anymore. or maybe 65 is b, but you get the point anyway.

Symbols like?

½ (ALT+189)
¾ (ALT+190)
¼ (ALT+188)
© (ALT+169)
ø (ALT+0248)
¢ (ALT+0162)

You can use the Character Map in windows to discover the keystroke combination's (character set, Windows Western) to do this.

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and you should find it.

According to the character map everything is normal, but I noticed something else, heres what symbols it makes for numbers 21-50

☺☻♥♦♣♠•◘○☺☻♥♦♣♠•◘○☺☻♥♦♣♠•◘○

Notice how it repeats every 9 symbols, this is weird.... I'm gonna plug in my old keyboard and get back to you on whether or not that changes it.

Okay, now I'm on my old keyboard and I just got back from notepad, it made no difference...

Okay I fixed it! :), my new keyboard had come with an installation cd, I uninstalled the thing it did and now I'm back to normal, the new keyboard still works without it though so I don't know what the point of it was.
