I bought a Lightscribe drive and a load of media for it and the CD's I've burned using EZ Media Creator 8 won't play in my car or my brother's car.  Every once in awhile I'll get one to fire up but 9 times out of 10 I'm greeted with an error message when I insert the disc.  I've tried dialing the burn speed all the way down to 8X and have tried both HP and Philips media but nothing worked.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks...  --R

Try Verbatim media.  The brands that you are using are not known to be quality media.

I'll second that.
I have used nothing but Verbatim and never had a problem.

Is the disc finalized (closed)?

Yep...did finalize the disc.  I might add that I've never had a problem with any brand of non-lightscribe CDR media in my car, including some stuff I bought a year or two ago for next to nothing during the rebate wars (eworks??).  Anyway, I'm willing to try Verbatim media if you guys think it'll make a difference.  I'm kinda surprised I'm the only one thats had this issue as I don't see mention of it anywhere.  Any other suggestions out there before I return the Philips media?  Is there a remote possibility it could be a speed issue with the discs (i.e. could older media rated at a slower speed possibly help...32X as opposed to 52X perhaps)? Thanks for everyone's input...  --R

Got the same problem here and I started with Verbatim - none worked in my crappy Delco car cd player (mfd. 2001). Also tried Memorex LS burned at 8X but still won't play. Anything *not* lightscribe works fine. Maybe has to do with the unique gold color/reflectivity? Verbatim LS colors just came out - will give them a try.

Funny thing about my car's cd player when I put a lightscribe disc in... the clock resets to 1:00 and radio powers off. This is exclusive to *any* LS cd's I've tried so far.
I also notice the LS cd's take longer to load and seek (if at all) in some DJ decks (ie. American Audio, Stanton, Gemini, and some lower-end Numarks). The same cd's that turn off my car radio will actually play fine in a Numark CDN-88 or 90 so I know the data's burned ok.

Just bought some Verbatim discs myself to see if that took care of the problem and it doesn't seem to have had much impact.  Your right...noticed the slow load and seek on lightscribe discs.  Please post your experiences with the new color discs.

Great info mAdbaSTARd.  I'll be picking up some color Verbatim lightscribe discs to try asap.  Thanks for your feedback.  --R

BTW, the CMC (crap) discs have "Made in Taiwan" on the case and the Moser Baer (working) discs say "Made in India".

But just to confirm, the CMC's were regular Verbatim lightscribe discs and the Moser Baer's were Verbatim COLOR lightscribe discs, correct?  I assume it's a color issue and not a manufacturer issue...but who knows.

I bought some memorex lightscribe cds and when I tried them out, they worked on our laptop computers but not in the darned car!  darn.

I had burned them on my vista desktop with Windows Media Player.

I think the problem is not in the CDs but in the software.  I updated the lightscribe software from the lightscribe website.  But then I reburned the CD with Roxio instead of WMP 11.

The new CDs worked just fine in the car.

Its a software problem, not a CD problem.  Give it a try.

Make sure to close the disc before you play it back in the car... Never burned with WMP and never will.  Not worth it with a product like ImgBurn now burning audio discs.
