hi can any please tell what software i need and how to use it, to transfer dvd movies to the ipod many thanks

I'd bet there are some free solutions out there, but a combination of SlySoft AnyDVD and CloneDVD mobile should do what you sre looking to do... sorry, I have not googled around for this type of solution... I'm a iPod nano owner.

I use CloneDVD Mobile for it, and the picture it produces is superb.

No it's not free, but it's menu driven.

CloneDVD Mobile is not free either but it works much faster and the quality is superb.

Since I am not an iPod Video owner, someone correct me if I am wrong, but can Nero Recode do it? The reason I suggest/inquire is I have a very young child... and I have recoded some of her Sesame Street DVD's and the Jack Jack Attack short from "The Incredibles" to Nero Digital and they can be played back with QuickTime Player. My young daughter understands how to double-click the shortcuts I made for her on Windows Desktop to play her videos when "she wants to hang out in Daddy's office" while I am working from home. Pretty good for age three

...

...So if you already have Nero, try Recode. I figure if QuickTime can play them, perhaps an iPod Video can. Not sure how the quality is, but hey, your watching it on a 2.5 inch screen for cryin' out loud!!!

Not sure if Nero recodes to the IPOD or not, I think it's MP4, I'll check and see.

imtoo is not free but what you have download from the website can also comlete half of your work.

CloneDVD Mobile will complete all the work, it's a trial until you purchase, but a "full" trial, no limitations.
