Try installing the nVDIA drivers again. Possibly you will be asked about IDE controllers or DMA setings, choose YES and please get back to us with the results.

I will, and I will certainly let you guys know what I find out. I suspect I'm not the only person having similar questions about nforce 2. A bunch of nforce 2 boards have been sold. It may take me a few days to find time to reinstall the drivers, but I will keep you informed of what I find. I'll try the nvidia nforce forums also.

I found a fix for the problem, guys. nVidia has a new driver out for the nforce platform (12/03) that addresses problems with the IDE bus and is more tweakable. It lists the primary and secondary IDE channels and is DMA configurable. Once I downloaded and installed the new driver, my burner now works fine with Nero. So, problem solved.

Thanks for all the replies and the help.

Excellent news, and thanks for posting back, this will help anyone with the NVidia chipset on the motherboard like you have!

Hi,

I have have just purchased a LTR-52327S cd-writer. My cd-writer drive is listed under CD-ROMs in the device manager. When i right-click it and select Properties, the DMA setting is on one of the tabs. Just incase this is of any help to you.

My cd-writer wont read most of my previously recorded CD's, only originals, very frustrating!

Best of luck,
James
