Hi,

When I burn backups to DVD's I often experience that the media will only play a couple of times in my set-top player. It plays perfect 3-4 times and after that it starts chopping in the end of the movies. I am burning with an NEC 3520 and the media is TraxData DL and Princo 4X single sided disc's.

The DVD's are stored the same way as the originals and they are not scratched or dammaged in any way.

Any help or hints will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!
Do you have the latest firmware for your NEC? If yes and still have problems then it is a media issue.
It seems that you'll have to go for a more quality media such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. Especially in case of Princo media there's nothing worst.

Firmware is latest and greatest :-)

I know that the media I use are not. But puzzles me how they play perfect a couple of times and then suddenly turns bad.

Any ideas why or rather how this happens?
