Hi all,
Spot the newbie yet? :)

I'm looking into purchasing a DVD R drive. A friend of mine recommended the Pioneer 106. But I think it might be a bit more than I need.

My 4 year old son is PS2 mad! However he does have a habit of scratching discs.

Can some body please help and recommend a cheap DVD R? It will 90% used for backing up PS2 games and the odd DVD movie?

Is it just a DVD-R burner I require for my needs?

Also a good source for DVD-R media would be extremely handy.

Many thanks in advance.

Liteon 411 or the 811 is a good choice if you are looking to save a few bucks. Both these drives will do both the + and the - format and you can get them for under $150.... The 411s are real cheap right now....

I got my drive but none of my software seems to see it.

I have created a backup using Copy To DVD of a movie. But I can't seem to backup a PS2 game. Neither Nero, Record Now Max or Alchohol 120% can see the drive so I can't create the image to backup my game.

PLEASE can somebody help me?!

I'm at a total loss.

Strange, I have that same drive and Alcohol and Nero, and many other programs work great with it. Have you made sure you are using the latest versions of these softwares?
