How long does it usually take for them to send it over?  How long has it been since you asked them to do a review on it?

I really look forward to finding out whether it will be any better than Nec 3540A with the latest SafeDisk protections, etc...

I look forward to reading it then... but I am a bit disappointed about it being similar with, as you say, and not much improved over the NEC-3540A in terms of SafeDisk protections...

Trying to get clarification on this one.  But it looks like someone's ND-4550A was able to backup SafeDisc 4.x on a DVD.  Hopefully this is no joke...

Hi! great review. I have one question.
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=15548&PageId=13
Why is one of the discs scanned at a speed of 2-5x cav and the other is 5-12x cav?

While testing the 4551 I found out that it failed to backup a game with SDv2.9 and Alcohol. I repeat the test with a newer version of Alcohol, if there is any.

I haven't got a reply to my post at CDFreaks, but what they copied was a DVD with SafeDisc v4.  I'm wondering if this drive can do SDv4 DVD backups but not CD.  Would be interesting to know...

I'm thinking of buying this dvd-writer and maybe later on use it in a htpc. I've heard that drive is noisy at high speeds, is it true? how much does lowering the speed affect this? because my liteon cd-writer whines at 16x and at 24x the noise is less disturbing.
Thank you.

All NEC drives used to be noisy, so it is also the 4550. I don't know in case you use the Drive Speed from Nero and lower the reading speed at 2X if you install it on your HTPC.
