DVDs hold 4.707 billion bytes of data, which IS NOT 4.7GB (gigabytes). A billion is 1,000 cubed, whereas a gigabyte is 1,024 bytes cubed (1,073,741,824 bytes). So, 4.707 billion bytes divided by 1 GB (4,707,000,000 / 1,073,741,824 = 4.383735358715057373046875) which is slightly over 4.38GB capacity on a DVD-5.
