Have lots of old vcr tapes.  Also new recordings on DVR hard drive or tv shows and camera.
I have a liteon 16X DVD recorder, but no video input.  I have seen some converters such as
Plextor to take 3 wire input and convert to Mpeg2( and others formats)  My question is will this work and then do I  lose quality,  IE: analog vs. digital.

I imagine no change in VCR quality,  but the dvr should be digital and converting this way ...??

thanks . 1st post

Digital has no quality loss but there are not many players with digital video output.

OK, thanks iggy.. but still  basic question.. when satellite/cable signal in. ( i think that it digital... which is record digital)...(on DVR Recorder). then output to TV is what digital or antalog.  ???? is this worth doing .  Am I losing any quality by this method or is it significant.  Just making copies., but  of course option of best quality  is nice to known.

Interesting, found USB port on back of DVR.

I dont have male to male, so never tried this conection.

I think the output to TV will be still analoge, since you need a a DVR Recorder with DVI output, does your DVR Recorder has one of it?

dont think so,  attached photo of output ... have ?? usb??

I can either pick up DVD recorder to input signal from DVR
or
I can pick up Plextor video capture convertor (pxm402u) for input from DVR
computer and burn Liteon 16XDVD.

guess the result will be the same ??  unless there is another way ??
any suggestions.

thoughts on usb port..... would i be able to access through windows ??
