Karr Wang, the author of K-Probe and other nifty LiteON based utilities has removed all of his programs from the web indeffinatly by order of LiteON themselves. Although LiteON never had any official stance on any of his software, it has become apparent that somewhere along the way, they decided that Karr Wang had given away some LiteON secret that they did not want him to, perhaps the flash eeprom function in LTR-Flash? But for whatever reason, we now must make due with whatever copies of the software that we have in our personal archives, and it seems quite unlikely that we will see anymore from Mr. Wang.

Personally, I will be sending a very unhappy letter to LiteON informing them that I believe they have just effectively shot themselves in the foot from a marketing point of view, since K-Probe was starting to attract a fair number of people to the LiteON name. I will also be informing them that I will be purchasing a plextor premium in the near future because they have chosen to openly support the testing of CD-R/W media.

I don't know if they will listen to me or not, but what I *DO* know is that if I sit down and do nothing, they DEFFINATLY won't listen to me

Customer support has "long" plagued LiteOn, not to mention they put out firmware after firmware that contains bug after bug. They let the end "customer" test their firmware.

If Lite On reacts then count that allreadyas a good point.
My experience is that there isn't actually something as Customer Support (Just like LG. But LG sometimes at least keeps there attention that there is. But they just do nothing.)Oh and I could name another couple of companies.[}:)]

There are only 2 cd-writer manufacturers that seem to care partially about there customers.

Plextor - Not much any more these days. Still sometimes they actually do. In the begining days Plextor seemed to be more concerned about there customers. These days it looks that there becomming more and more arrogant.

Yamaha - In the old times Yamaha listened to there customers. But now with the cd-rw bussiness allmost closed I think Yamaha won't do much any more.

I can assure you that Yamaha will never turn their backs on Customers their Customer Support is second to none and it will always be there even though they have pulled out of the Speed Race and who can say that they won't be Releasing a DVD Writer and they will need customer support for that if it ever happens !!!
